DANIEL FOUND DEAD AFTER 8-HOUR DRINKING BINGE *
IT was after work and Mr Daniel Lim was in a party mood.
So the lonely man and some friends went to a pub at Clarke Quay at 9pm. They then moved from pub to pub where they continued drinking till 5.30am the next day.
By that time Mr Lim, 28, was so drunk he was incapable of taking care of himself.
His friend, Mr Loon, 28, took Mr Lim to his home at Aljunied.
He placed his snoring friend on a sofa and then went to bed at about 10am.
At about 3pm, Mr Loon, an actuarist, was awakened by Mr Lim ringing handphone. He tried to wake him up but there was no response.
He then realised that Mr Lim wasn't breathing and called for an ambulance.
When the paramedics arrived, they could not detect any sign of breathing and declared Mr Lim dead at 3.39pm.
A coroner's inquiry on 04 May heard that his autopsy revealed he had three times the amount of alcohol doctors consider dangerous.
And it was likely to have contributed to his heart failure and death.
Police investigations showed Mr Lim had not been involved in any fight the night before. No visible injuries were found on him and there was no sign of struggle in the flat.
Their checks showed he also had no major medical history, suicidal tendencies, or relationship or money problems.
His sister, Ms Lim, told police that he was an alcoholic who returned home drunk practically every day.
A toxicology report revealed that there was 246mg of alcohol for every 100ml of Mr Lim's blood, much more than the acceptable 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.
Forensic pathologist Adam Tan stated that Mr Lim died of acute myocarditis caused by alcoholic intoxication.
*joking nia, all the above are fictitious*
